Our History

1958

On September 7th at the Area 5 Service Assembly in Santa Ana a new Delegate Area was carved out of the "California Southern Area" now giving California 5 Areas and 5 Delegates. The new Area is called "California Southern Coastal" nicknamed "Panel 2" because our new Delegate's terms are to start in even numbered years.

Prior to the split, Area 5 was made up of approximately 266 Groups organized into 33 Districts. 10 of these 33 Districts, District 20-29, became the new Area. These were renumbered Districts 1-10 and our first Area Roster states we had 90 registered Groups.

1965

Court Cards are established in AA for Southern California by Bud Mc and Judge Leon Emerson.

1959

January 1st: In less than a year Area 9 grows to 105 registered Groups, 105 GSRs, in 10 Districts and we follow the trend continuing through the late 1960's that every registered Group has a GSR.

District 1 has 14 Groups registered, becoming the largest Group in our Area at this time.

Art B from Long Beach is our first Delegate and serves only one year finishing out the term of Panel 9. In October of this year we elect officers to serve the first full two year term beginning the following year.

1971

Area 9 changes its name from "California Southern Coastal" to "Mid Southern California" (MSCA 09). This is also the year of our 4th PRASSA and our 3rd Symposium of Service

1960

Taking office January 1st, Jack W is our first full term delegate serving on Panel 10. Our first order of business focuses on creating a host committee led by Jack W for the 1960 International Convention in Long Beach. Our new Area meetings start in October 1958 but we don't officially exist until January 1959. A lot is riding on this convention and its success is credited to service work from our (only 11 core member) host committee and with the help of AA members throughout Southern California

1975~1976~1977~1978

During this period our District 1 GSR Meetings are held in the Redondo Beach City Hall Conference Room / Employee Lounge (S.E. corner of N Broadway at Carnelian St) in Redondo Beach.
